🕊️ Impact = Profit

Untitled

The goal of Optimism’s Retroactive Public Goods Funding is to implement impact=profit — the principle that positive impact to the collective should be rewarded with profit to the individual. This principle serves as a North Star, motivating the creation of a more productive and fair economy.

🗳️ Voting in RetroPGF 3

Untitled

You vote in RetroPGF by expressing how much OP each application should receive to fill the gap between the amount of impact they created for the Optimism Collective and the profit they received.

  1. Review Applications: Browse and review applications in the RetroPGF voting application(s). You are not responsible for knowing everything about every application category! Instead of reviewing all applications, focus on the areas of contributions that you feel the most knowledgable about.
  2. Collaborate with other badgeholders: There are hundreds of applications in RetroPGF 3. No single badgeholder will have the expertise or time to review all of them. Realising impact = profit requires a collaborative effort among badgeholders! Here are a few ways you can collaborate with other badgeholders:
    1. Attend calls & workshops: There are multiple calls and workshops providing context on your role as a badgeholder in RetroPGF and facilitating collaboration among badgeholders. More information in Calls and Workshops
    2. Use Lists: Lists are a new form of flexible delegation. Your role as a badgeholder is not to review all applications, you can use Lists to defer to experts on applications you’re less familiar with. Lists facilitate knowledge sharing among badgeholders, and enable badgeholders to easily replicate or modify each other’s votes. A List contains a set of projects, chosen from the total set of RetroPGF applicants, together with a suggested OP allocation for each project.
      1. More information on Lists in Lists
    3. Collaborate async: You can exchange notes, collaborate, and vibe in the badgeholder channel on Discord/Telegram. For more in-depth conversations on specific topics we recommend using the RetroPGF category on the Governance Forum.
  3. Submit your votes: Your aim should be to vote on as many applications as possible!
    1. You can allocate a total of up to 30m OP among applications. You can allocate up to 5m OP to a single application.
    2. If you’re not voting on an application, you’re expressing indifference as to how much OP this application should receive.
    3. Results are calculated using the median. Each application needs to receive a minimum Quorum of votes from 17 badgeholders to qualify.
